This page explains the cookies and browser storage this website uses. We keep the list short on purpose: Steppe Gut does not run analytics, advertising or social-media tracking, so everything below exists to make the site work rather than to watch you use it.

Cookies we set

These are all strictly necessary for the site to function, so we do not ask for consent to set them and there is no cookie banner. You can still remove them at any time through your browser settings, see ‘How to remove cookies’ below.

Language preference (NEXT_LOCALE)

Purpose: remembers whether you chose English or Thai, so the site opens in that language on your next visit.
Storage duration: 1 year, or until you pick the other language.
Set by us, first-party.

Signed-in session

Purpose: keeps you signed in to your account between pages and visits. Set only if you create an account or sign in, and removed when you sign out.
Storage duration: cleared on sign-out, or after a period of inactivity.
Third party: Supabase, our account and order database provider. Supabase Privacy Policy

Checkout fraud prevention

Purpose: set by Stripe, our payment processor, while you are on the checkout page, to help detect fraudulent card use. We never see your card details, and neither these cookies nor your card details are stored by us.
Storage duration: up to 1 year.

Browser storage we use

Alongside cookies, your browser also holds a small amount of local storage that never leaves your device and is never sent to us:

Your shopping basket, so it survives a page refresh or a closed tab.
Saved account details you have entered, such as your name and delivery address, so you do not have to retype them.
A short-lived flag used to show your order confirmation after checkout, or a newsletter sign-up confirmation, which clears itself once shown.

Cookies we do not use

We do not use analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics), advertising cookies, or social-media tracking pixels (such as a Facebook/Meta pixel) anywhere on this site. If that changes, we will update this page first and, where required, ask for your consent before any such cookie is set.

How to remove cookies

You can also block or delete cookies at any time through your browser’s own settings. Removing the ones above will not stop the site working, though you may be asked to choose your language again or to sign back in.
